You get the best of both worlds with this extension/add-on. There are many customizable settings to choose from, so you can make YouTube the way you want. You can utilize a more classic video page layout and its alternative version that mimics some older layouts.

YouTube Redux also gives you a compact video player with size presets and pillarboxing. You can disable infinite scrolling for comments and related videos and set a custom number of videos per row on the home page (from default 4 to 1-10). You also can activate a true fullscreen mode. There is also auto-unpausing of videos during long sessions. Don't like the new Youtube logo? no worries; restore the classic logo and favicons.

YouTube Redux also uses precise, non-truncated values for likes/dislikes on a video page, and you can hide the 'Autoplay' or 'Play on TV' button if desired. There are so many other possibilities available to choose from that most should be happy with the features offered.
