You get the best of both worlds with this extension/add-on. There are many customizable settings to choose from, so you can make YouTube the way you want. You can utilize a more classic video page layout and its alternative version that mimics some older layouts.
YouTube Redux also gives you a compact video player with size presets and pillarboxing. You can disable infinite scrolling for comments and related videos and set a custom number of videos per row on the home page (from default 4 to 1-10). You also can activate a true fullscreen mode.
