I?m not saying it's the best, but the greatest, simply because of its lifespan and players. At one point it had 12 million paying members and as of late that number is about 7 million with it expected to swell with the upcoming expansion in November. If you never played before and were curious, now is the time. Every year the game gets friendlier for new players and makes leveling even faster, something that was sorely needed. It's easy to find a guild so you have a group to hang out and socialize with which is a big part of MMORPG games. Members can create as many characters as they like so don't overthink creating your first character. It has been established that the race and character are not as important as you enjoying playing the character you create. With the World of Warcraft Starter Edition you can create an account and check out the game up to level 20 which can often be done in a matter of a few hours but probably longer if you never played before. You can't join a guild or use trade, mail, auction house, calendar, voice chat and a few other limits but you can get a feel for the game you have heard so much about.
