It's been some time since the Japanese studio Team NINJA released a pure action game in the vein of modern Ninja Gaiden, as titles like the two entries in the Nioh series and Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin combine the excellent action gameplay the studio is known for with role-playing game mechanics.
