Seems that Xp-erience.org have snagged some screenshots of the soon to be released WinDVD 4 and also some details on the new player.
WinDVD 4 is expected to be released in Japan on the 20th May and will be available as an update to the previous version (requiring a serial) or as a complete product.

It will also support playback from hard disk, advanced TV-out properties and a new feature called Video Desktop that will allow you to set your wallpaper to act as the DVD screen.
