Windows XP 64-bit for AMD64 Goes Public : A Look at Build 3790

GamePC have thrown up their look at Windows XP 64-bit Build 3790! Here's a snip.

As the release of the operating system has drawn closer, third-party manufacturers are starting to release compatible X86-64 driver sets - a vital element in getting XP 64-bit Edition accepted into the mainstream. While the number of available components with compatible drivers is still incredibly small, big players like nVidia and VIA are stepping up and releasing drivers. The last time we looked at this operating system, our Thunder K8W Opteron test platform still couldn't run a decent graphics card (as neither nVidia nor ATI had released drivers) and we could not run Serial ATA/150 disks as no controller companies had released anything publicly.

Today's situation is much different. We were able to load our test system with a GeForceFX 5950 Ultra 256MB graphics card using nVidia's beta Detonator drivers for X86-64, and we were able to perform hard disk benchmarks using Silicon Image's 3114 controller chip, which now has support for both AMD64 and IA64 Windows 64-bit editions. The end result is that we were able to fully functional high-end workstation with a complete set of working 64-bit drivers. Of course, this is a very controlled scenario, but everything we used in our testing can be grabbed off the shelf or downloaded by folks out there.
