New Eye-tracking Technology Exclusively For Windows 8 PCs.

We've got our sights set on getting one (no pun intended). Tobii is the world’s leading researcher and developer for eye-tracking technology and ever since last year’s Consumer and Electronics Show where they unveiled Tobii Gaze for Windows 8, the world has eagerly awaited their next reveal.

Presenting Tobii REX, a peripheral eye-tracking function for Windows 8 PCs (sorry, no Macs). Connecting to the PC using a simple USB, the REX device attaches to bottom of the PC, much like Wii and Xbox Kinect devices do to your TVs. Tobii REX enables Windows 8 users to navigate, zoom, and scroll using their eye movements in synchrony with a mouse or touchpad, making for a faster, more intuitive experience.

Tobii REX is set to be revealed in Las Vegas at this years CES. Only 5,000 consumer peripherals will be made available for purchase by fall 2013 (it has not been said how much the consumer version will cost), however Tobii REX Developer Edition is now available for $995 USD and can be ordered on their website.

I just have one question, where is Apple in all this!? I'd really like to use this interface in conjunction with OS X. But until, all you PC users enjoy!

For more information, here is Tobii’s own explanation of their award winning eye-tracking technology found in Tobii Gaze:
