Urgent News: Playnet Network Crumbles!

Published by

MaaB from MaxReboot I along with others from the Playnet Community, have been fearing rumours that has just became reality! Sites like Icrontic.com, Guru3D.com and MANY MANY others will be going offline on the 17 December 2001 because Playnet.com has terminated Hosting. Here's the e-mail: Dear Affiliate,

Due to conditions beyond our control, we are being forced to make immediate changes to our network.

The current economy (and more specifically the internet economy as it stands today), the near collapse of reasonable web advertising, increased bandwidth costs, and company resources have all converged and we must take immediate action.

This letter is notice that effective December 17th, 2001 we are no longer able to host your website or represent your property for advertising activities.

We are beginning the process of archiving your website(s) including pages, images and database tables (not FTP files) and will be making the archive available to you as soon as possible. Between now and Monday we suggest you not make any changes or updates as they may not be saved in the archive. We will notify you via E-mail when your archive is available.

We will not be deleting your site(s) from our servers immediately in order to avoid any loss of data and our staff will assist in any way possible in transitioning your site to a new host (domain transfers, etc). Please note, we cannot guarantee your site will be to the public available past Monday December 17th.

Should we have possession of equipment owned by you, we will be making arrangements with you directly to return it as quickly as possible.

We will continue to expedite your share payment of any monies received by Playnet from our advertising agencies or direct advertisers for service to December 14th.

We regret this turn of events and wish you success in obtaining another host.

Please E-mail affhelp@playnet.com with any questions or should you need assistance.

SO WTF am I to do?!?!? I got 5 days to figure something out! The guys at Art of War Central will be hosting a temporary Index file so that MaxReboot does not suffer any downtime until I can figure something out.

If ANYONE has anything to add or any good idea, PLEASE let me know by contacting me by e-mail at webmaster@maxreboot.com

On a closing note I would like to say, DAMNIT!
