Universal Extractor 2 is an unofficial updated and extended version of the original UniExtract by Jared Breland.
It brings several hundred changes, including community-wanted ones such as a batch mode, auto-updater, and scan-only-functionality.
During installation, there are six steps to set up this portable app. These changes can be accessed later in the menu should you opt to skip through all the steps. You can set up Context Menu links, the ability to extract audio or video tracks using FFMPEG, and a note on using plugins.
The interface is small and simple to use. Odds are you're going to love it or hate it. Select an archive and destination and whether you want to scan or extract. Universal Extractor 2 has the option to always be on top, and you can view and delete log files at any time. You'll also find a batch option.
Once you select extract, a Command Prompt window will appear and extract the files.
Universal Extractor 2 has a niche for those looking for a simple, clean interface. Those who prefer a GUI would be happier with WinRar, 7-Zip, or PeaZip, for example.
