This concerns yet another patent dispute where The University of Wisconsin believe that Sony has infringed on one of their patents that covers advanced chip making technology such as a MIPS core with extensions.
The representative from Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation thinks that the lawsuit will make Sony consider paying a licence fee for the 60+ million PS2 chips shipped so far.
