Go to any online forum where computer performance is discussed, and it's almost a sure bet you will see a great deal of discussion revolving around Futuremark Corporation's video card benchmark programs 3DMark2001SE, and it's newest brethren, 3DMark2003. The programs' legendary popularity comes in part because of the ability users have to upload their test results to Futuremark's online database and compare those results to those of users around the world. Competition is fierce, and users often go to extraordinary lengths to achieve their own ultimate 3DMark score. One of the mostly commonly asked questions in these online forums is "How do people get such high scores?? This guide attempts to take some of the mystery out of the process of achieving a your best possible 3DMark score, regardless of the machine you're using. Bear in mind that the purpose of this guide is ONLY to increase 3DMark scores to the highest possible level. While many of the methods of increasing 3DMark scores are the same used to boost overall PC performance, some of the methods used to achieve higher scores are NOT meant to be utilized on a regular basis, and in some cases involve interfering with or disabling normal functionality of the computer. Settings such as these will be noted as such, and should be applied only with the understanding that unacceptable system behavior may result.
