Super Space Cadet is a retro turn-based, text/console strategy game reminiscent of games like Super Star Trek.

This is one of those games that you need your imagination rather than ultra-realistic graphics displays. It is essentially a clone but with some enhancements added to it. Although it uses the text console mode, it isn't a run of the mill "DOS" application; it's a true Windows program.

In Super Space Cadet you are in charge of Saving the Intergalactic Alliance by defeating Zylon warriors hellbent on invading and conquering the galaxy. You can send commands to blast lasers, fire missiles, deploy a smart bomb, scan your surroundings, use stealth in the form of a cloaking device, utilize your onboard computer, protect stardocks and planetary inhabitants, and more. All commands are available for viewing in the help section within the game. It does include a detailed manual on how to play, save/load game functionality, and record-keeping of successful missions.

The Intergalactic Alliance, of which you are a member, occupies the current galaxy where you live. A warrior race known as the Zylons have begun an invasion of your galaxy based on their despotic agenda (due to their belief in their cultural superiority). You command a starship known as the Aurora, and your objective is to destroy all of the enemy vessels. If you succeed, you win. If they destroy you first, you will have failed (and there are other conditions that will cause you to lose the game as well). Simple enough, right? Great. After all, there's no need to make this more complicated than it needs to be -- I'm sure you just want to dive right in and start blowing away some alien scum.

Every game that you play will be slightly unique, with different numbers of enemies and a different overall layout regarding the various entities that inhabit the galaxy. For example, you will have access to a random number of stardocks where you can obtain more fuel for your ship or perform repairs if you get damaged. There are also planets scattered around, with some of them occupied by civilizations in various states of technological advancement. And as if it wasn't bad enough that the Zylons will attack YOU, they will also on occasion attack these stardocks and planets.

The galaxy is also occupied by a random amount of various heavenly bodies, such as stars, asteroids, and nebula.
