Java Platform, Standard Edition (Java SE) lets you develop and deploy Java applications on desktops and servers, as well as today's demanding Embedded and Real-Time environments.

The Java(TM) Platform, Standard Edition Runtime Environment (JRE(TM)), excluding the JavaFX(TM) runtime, is intended for software developers and vendors to redistribute with their applications.

The Java SE Runtime Environment contains the Java virtual machine, runtime class libraries, and Java application launcher that are necessary to run programs written in the Java programming language. It is not a development environment and does not contain development tools such as compilers or debuggers. For development tools, see the
Java SE Development Kit (JDK(TM)). The JRE installation triggers the download of the JavaFX runtime. The JavaFX runtime is also available separately, and is not part of the JRE.

What Java Do I Need?
You must have a copy of the JRE (Java Runtime Environment) on your system to run Java applications and applets. That is this download, intended for consumers and desktop PC's.
