Shoot Your Nightmare Halloween Special is a first-person shooter where you need to collect 13 candy bowls to awaken from your nightmare.Shoot Your Nightmare Halloween Special is portable, so just extract and run "synh.exe." You can set a screen resolution from 640x480 all the way up to 3840x2160. Graphics quality has six settings from fastest to fantastic. You can also use windowed mode if you like. Finally, a joystick input tab is available to set up a gamepad or joystick as well as customize your keyboard. Once the game starts, you can again change your controls from the main window at any time. Right-click and you can zoom much like your favorite FPS. Ammo? Forget about it; you're unlimited. The setting is spooky and well done. There's a bunch of buildings and plenty of terrains. The moon and sky are beautiful. The mood is indeed set here. There are pumpkins to be found (of course), but you're looking for the pumpkin candy bowls that are smaller and brighter. We ran into plenty of green blobs that don't die too quickly. Three or four shotgun blasts will do the trick, and the pistol is also capable. Your health will take a hit and will slowly regenerate, and you can find some health packs laying around. Heads shots do seem more efficient. We did get stuck on the terrain once, which sucked because we were 7 of 13 candy bowls in.When you approach any candy bowl, you can also expect a blob or two to appear to try and kill you. There are occasional sounds that pop up and make you jump, and there are your footsteps, even in water, and a pretty creepy soundtrack in the background. Keep wandering the town until you find all thirteen bowls.Shoot Your Nightmare Halloween Special is not hard nor complicated. It's exactly what it claims to be - a Halloween themed first-person shooter. It's free, portable, and a lot of fun. If we were to change anything, it would have been to replace the blobs with something scarier as green blobs chasing us seemed a bit anti-climatic. That said, we were so engrossed in the game that when we stopped playing, our half a cup of coffee was cold. Now, that's terrifying!
