The packaging is easy to figure out, and the installation was simple. We removed the battery immediately to start charging. The battery can take up to 10 hours to recharge and should last 3-6 months, depending on usage and settings. A small level is included and even an orange Torx screwdriver to easily remove the battery cover.

Once you download the app, setting the Ring up is simple, but can take some time. For example, you need to decide if you want motion or Ring alert. A wizard is provided to set the motion zones, although we found that the motions zones aren't specific enough. You can prolong battery life with video, motions, and sound settings. We found that the Ring needed to be used for about a week before we knew what settings we wanted, or didn't.
