Winamp had a great run for many years and millions of users but was discontinued in December 2013. As you know, a lot of security risks come with running a program that no longer is updated, so this could be the perfect replacement
Qmmp includes support for XMMS, Winamp skins, MP3, Vorbis, AAC, AAC+ streams, MMS (experimental), MPRIS (1.0 and 2.0), embedded CUE (for FLAC and WavPack), CUE sheet, CDDB, removable device detection (via HAL or UDisks), video playback via Mplayer, and multiple playlists. An alternative user interface is also based on a standard widget set, 10-band equalizer, and more.
