What you flush down the toilet could one day power the lights in your home. Researchers have revealed a microbial fuel cell that can generate electricity from sewage. The device harnesses chemical techniques similar to those the body uses to break down food. Furthermore, it also breaks down harmful organic matter, thereby acting as a sewage treatment plant at the same time.
