Pixel Rea 2.1
Pixel Rea is a portable app to check for, and repair dead pixels and burned areas on your LCD and plasma screens.
Detection of dead pixels has a run and repair mode. By clicking on run, you will cycle through 8 colors with your mouse, one color at a time allowing you to look for any dead pixels. Once you cycle through all the colors, you are given the option to restart or quit.
You have three options to repair; short, average, and aggressive. Short and average have no time promises, but the aggressive estimate is 3 hours. You want to start with short to see if that fixes your problem and work your way up to aggressive if needed. A small window will then pop up that you drag to the dead pixel(s).
Detection of burned area has the same run and repair options. Running this test shows a uniform gray area to detect burned areas. Once again, you have three options to repair; snow effect, scanning dynamic, and a blank screen. The times on these repairs should all be the same, so the best bet here is to try them in order until your problem is fixed.
The app does not always close gracefully so you may need to check Task Manager after you close it. Since it's an app most would only use rarely, you will find this out if you delete or move this portable app when you're finished.
There are quite a few dead pixel tools available here, but Pixel Rea brings numerous, lengthy tests and repairs. If you've had no luck removing dead pixels or repairing a burnt screen, Pixel Rea might be what you need.
