PingoMeter is a portable, open source app that shows your ping as an icon in the taskbar.

PingoMeter is lightweight and unobtrusive. Just line your mouse over the icon to see your ping at any time—Right-click on settings or to exit.

Under Settings, you will find numerous color options, update time settings, max ping interval, optional alarms, and the option to choose the IP to ping.
