As rumors swirl about ATI prepping a new Radeon X1950 XTX and its Radeon X1900 XT inches closer to the $299 mark, Nvidia apparently has a surprise in store for next month. Leaked Nvidia slides obtained by Chinese site IT.com.cn reveal the existence of an upcoming GeForce 7950 GT planned for September 14.
The card will reportedly be clocked at 550MHz with 24 pixel shader processors, 512MB of 700MHz memory (1.4GHz effective), and High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection built in as standard. Official pricing will be $299, just like the current GeForce 7900 GT that clocks in at 450MHz/660MHz by default and has half the memory. The GeForce 7950 GT really looks more like a GeForce 7900 GTX with 100MHz lower core and memory clocks and added HDCP support, which could make it a tantalizing choice for overclockers.
