WinOsCentral have received word on an NVIDIA Detonator 22.xx hack. If u have noticed that NVidia have now removed support for enhanced CPU instruction sets in the newer Detonator 22.xx releases then this might be an interesting read.
1. Did anybody ever notice that Nvidia changed [maybe on purpose, but I believe this is a BUG] the: Control Panel -> Display icon -> Settings tab -> Advanced button -> GeForce tab -> Additional Properties button -> OpenGL Settings tab -> "Disable support for enhanced CPU instruction sets" box in all their newer Detonator 22.xx releases: 22.40, 22.50 and 22.80? In the older drivers [21.xx and below] the same box had to be unchecked for this setting to be enabled. In 22.xx you have to check the box to enable this setting. [?!]
This actually "translates" into this (Win9x/ME) Registry DWORD [REG_DWORD] value, valid for all Detonator 22.xx releases (example, this is mine):
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE / System / CurrentControlSet / Services
/ Class / Display001 / NVIDIA / OpenGL]/ "ForceGenericCPU" = dword:00000001
Note that "1" is necessary to enable "enhanced CPU instructions" in Detonator 22.xx, opposite to "0", which is needed to properly enable the same setting in all 21.xx and older drivers.Note also that the "0001" key above may have different values on different systems, depending on the Registry location where the NVidia drivers are installed. Generic is 00nn, and nn can have any integer value between 00 and 50.
WinOsCentral also have some great hacks for: Netscape - Win XP Registration.
So warp to WinOsCentral [the other batcave].
