Mod proof Xbox consoles were spotted in Australia first. British Xbox hacker Tony Dalton-Richards said that mod chips that can be upgraded by the user will simply need a new BIOS, while those without usable memory will have to be remanufactured. He said the revision primarily seems to be aimed at cutting Microsoft's manufacturing costs, "but I guess that they also took to opportunity to throw a spanner in the works for mod chips at the same time."
