Memory Hogs is a portable freeware app to monitor processes and CPU load with the ability to stop memory hogging processes. On the first run, you're given a few tips on using the program. One in particular to notice is the using the Home, End, Page Up or Page Down to set the application to the corners of your screen. It will always snap to one of the corners, something we didn't care for.The idea behind Memory Hogs is to be able to monitor processes to see what is taking up the most resources. It can also show CPU load. Memory Hogs is simple to use but has quite a few settings. From the main Window, you can set the number of processes to show, the threshold, and CPU load percentage.Of course, what good would finding a memory hogging process be without being able to stop the said process? By left or right double-clicking the option to stop or exclude a process becomes available. Finally, we have the settings section. In here you can find the usual information including version number, update, restart, and quit. Beyond that, you can set Memory Hogs always to show thresholds, autostart, log alerts, icons, stealth mode and more. You can also turn on or off alerts for anything you're monitoring and add disk space monitoring. For the geek, you can also edit all of these settings in the INI file, which is the same as editing a text file.Memory Hogs is one of those gems you might never have heard of. It was developed by one man to address a specific problem he was having, and he has shared it with us, and you. If your computer is running slow, it could be due to a process taking up your memory and CPU, and Memory Hogs can find out which process is doing this. It might also be handy for finding a hidden malware process as well.Download
