Running Mandrake 8.2 and KDE 2.2? Upgrading to KDE 3 is one of the fastest, ( bandwidth dependent) and easiest updates available... Log into your system and launch gFTP from the K menu > Networking > File Transfer > gFTP. Make a new directory in your home directory, (we called ours kde3). From gFTP select Local > Make Directory. Now open your new directory by double clicking on it. Connect to a KDE mirror, select Bookmarks > X11 Sites > KDE. You will have a screen like the one below. Source Link: Linux Beginner
