This free software boasts being used to edit some well-known films such as; The Wolf of Wall Street, LA Confidential, Pulp Fiction, Heat, Road to Perdition, Hugo, The King’s Speech and more.

Lightworks offers some of the widest native format support available in any professional NLE and also supports resolutions up to 4K as well as video in SD and HD formats. MXF, Quicktime and AVI containers, with almost every format you can think of importing natively without the need for transcoding, from ProRes, Avid DNxHD, AVC-Intra, DVCPRO HD, RED R3D, DPX, AVCHD (with AC3 audio), H.264, XDCAM EX / HD 422, all on the same timeline in real-time.

Lightworks really is a great product but it isn't an easy-to-use tool so take advantage of the numerous tutorial videos that are available and highly recommended to watch.
