LCD Smartie is a free and Open Source program designed for Microsoft Windows operating systems that enables users to connect character LCDs as a secondary display device for their PCs, which can be particularly useful for gamers, modders, and PC enthusiasts.

LCD Smartie's Graphical User Interface (GUI) has been updated with a modern, sleek, visually appealing, and user-friendly design. Several improvements have been made under the hood to ensure that the program runs smoothly and efficiently. Plugin support has also been enhanced, making it easier to extend the capabilities of LCD Smartie with your favorite add-ons. Display drivers have been updated and fine-tuned to provide a seamless experience across various devices.

The program supports displays based on the Hitachi HD44780 LCD controller, the Matrix Orbital Serial/USB LCD, as well as Palm OS devices (when used with PalmOrb). LCD Smartie also offers built-in support for several system statistics, such as CPU load, network utilization, and free disk space, as well as RSS feed downloads, Winamp integration, and support for other popular applications.

To make LCD Smartie compatible with modern PCs, the team has started working on a USB interface that allows users to connect LCDs to their computers without requiring additional kernel drivers. This feature provides a complete plug-and-play experience for users.
