Serence KlipFolio is a welcome addition to the content providing services of Warp2Search. We have been following the Klipfolio development closely and are pleased that a new content technology has made its way to our growing target audience. Klipfolio provides our guests the latest news at the blink of an eye. Today, Serence announced their brand new KlipFolio software and Klip Technology!
What is a Klip and what does it do?
Read our interview with James Scott, Chief Technical Officer at Serence. At first a small introduction about the Klips: KlipFolio is a small, efficient and easy to use desktop application that allows you to collect, view and manage live information channels. Save the time and energy needed to stay up-to-date. Based on your collection of information channels, KlipFolio will gather and present information to you the moment it is available. The users have to install a small program, get the Klips of their choice and that's it. The users don't have to surf directly to the website, they have all information displayed on their desktop for free.
Here are two screenshots of the KlipFolio application and a screenshot of the preferences: All webmasters can also get a content provider, it's a very easy installation and after the installation, you have to do nothing. The Klips are grabbing their information to be displayed through XML, RSS or other source formats. And that is all it needs to work. Read on for our interview with James Scott, CTO at Serence! W2S: Can you tell me something about Serence and what the company does?
J.S: Serence was founded in 2001 to address a growing need for Content Service Providers to extend their current content to their audiences in a more efficient, timely and valuable medium.
Out of this trend Serence information channels were built, creating a persistent link between the content provider and the end user. The value to the end users, readers or customers is apparent - save time and stay up-to-date. The company is privately held and we are headquartered in Ottawa, Canada. W2S: What was the idea behind the Klip technology?
J.S: The core idea behind our Klip technology is to facilitate on both sides (user and provider) the deployment of information from networked sources to a user's desktop. W2S: What do you think for what target audience the Klips could get interesting?
J.S: Klips are most immediately relevant to internet users who rely on current and frequently updating information from more than one source and to the providers of that kind information. Think of the scenario where a construction company is monitoring bids and tenders for upcoming work; a office worker who relies on the latest competitive intelligence; or a person wanting to buy a specific type of car at a certain price.
For all of these scenarios, and more, Klips are a valuable and easy to use information source. W2S: How many sites are delivering the Klip information (Klip food) at the moment? (W2S does already ;-))
J.S: Although KlipFolio and Klips have been available to our beta test group for the past 4 months, the general availability of this software is only set for Monday April 8th, 2002.
As such we are proud to be launching with 20 official Klip providers and will be signing new content providers quickly over the next months. W2S: Can you tell me how the Klips work for the endusers?
J.S: Well, at first you have to download our FREE KlipFolio software at Serence.com and install it. Then you have to go to our KlipFarm over
