Interview With 3Dfx Driver Creators '3dhq'

Published by

NordicHardware strikes again with yet another interview. This time it's Mr. Devin Phillips, who's answering some questions.

Phillips is one of the people working at 3dhq, creating new drivers for 3Dfx hardware in order to overcome such hardships as Windows XP, DirectX 9.0, incompatible games etc. Get some insight in what it takes to develop videocard drivers for a "dead" product and what drives these people to keep updating them. "After recieving a good old Voodoo 5 5500 AGP a few weeks ago I of course went on a hunt for new drivers for it that would work in Windows XP.

I didn't take long before I found the site called 3DHQ. Here I found a flourishing forum with lots of activity and the promised land: "up to date" drivers for the 3Dfx hardware.

I find it personally interesting that there's still so many dedicated people even a couple of years after 3Dfx demise so I decided to conduct this interview with Mr Devin Phillips who's one of the devoted souls at 3DHQ."
