Very smart move there... That will drive customers even easier away from Intel cause VIA offers an even better performing P4 solution than Intel itself. Intel, Santa Clara, Calif., filed suit in Delaware on Friday, according to the company. The suit alleges that Via illegally infringed upon five Intel patents in its manufacture of both the P4X266 chipset and the P4M266 chipset, both of which were released earlier in September. The suit also names S3 Graphics Inc., the joint venture between S3 and Sonicblue, as a defendant. An Intel spokesman said that after the company obtained samples of the Via chipset, it determined that the products infringed their patents and decided to sue. Intel seeks to block the sale of both chipsets and unspecified damages.
