ExtremeTech has news that Intel showed off its latest prootype of the new 0.13-micron "Northwood" chip on a technology summit. More importantly, Otellini said, are three new technologies coming down the pike in the next year or two: Banias, the company's next-generation mobile microprocessor; McKinley, the successor to Itanium; and a new technology, "hyper-pipelining," or on-chip virtual multiprocessing, which Intel will include in next-generation server processors and eventually migrate to the desktop.
