Important announcement regarding Rocky Linux images on Azure
Significant updates and guidance have been provided to the Rocky Linux Community on Azure concerning Rocky Linux images. The Cloud Special Interest Group (SIG) has partnered with the Azure Community Galleries team to enhance the availability and ease of use of Rocky Linux images on Azure. The Community Gallery provides a streamlined approach for distributing these images, circumventing any licensing challenges. The transition of marketplace images to a new publisher account has been executed, with a focus on architecture rather than versioning. The updated images are now categorized under a more straightforward publisher name and function as static snapshots.The previous images associated with the publisher account erockyenterprisesoftwarefoundationinc1653071250513 for Rocky 8 and Rocky 9 are no longer supported. New virtual machines can be deployed using them until the deprecation date of October 20th, 2024. Clients with ongoing deployments of the deprecated images will be notified regarding the impending deprecation, and deployment limitations will be enforced following the end-of-life date.
