Hackers go after Evernote.

Published by

Evernote, an online company that lets you store your notes, information, and data, has emailed all their users advising them to change their password due to a security breach. Although the company says no private information has been access they do indicate that usernames, emails and encrypted passwords had been access. Given time a hashed and salted password could be cracked - so the company advises to immediately change your passwords.
Too bad they didn't encrypt the email address -- I'm pretty sure I can count on more spam coming to my inbox soon, just like when Dropbox has a similar hack. a month or so back.

The investigation has shown, however, that the individual(s) responsible were able to gain access to Evernote user information, which includes usernames, email addresses associated with Evernote accounts and encrypted passwords. Even though this information was accessed, the passwords stored by Evernote are protected by one-way encryption. (In technical terms, they are hashed and salted.)
