Recent research published by The European Leisure Software Publishers Association (ELSPA) shows that the UK leisure software market is now the third largest country market in the world, after USA and Japan. In the UK, consumers now spend more on leisure software than on renting videos or cinema visits. The huge popularity of LAN games events reflects the rising popularity of this genre of entertainment in the UK and with the strong sales of Sony?s PlayStation 2, the imminent arrival of Microsoft?s Xbox and this summer?s launch of Nintendo?s GameCube this trend looks set to continue.
