Filenotz allows you to add or read plain text attached to a file.
Most file types, like executables, and documents can have notes attached without being corrupted. This addition can be for any reason the user wants. Files that contain notes can still be run, opened, copied and moved, zipped into an archive, added to an email, etc. Any fundamental change to the file content, such as opening then saving an image or a .doc file, will not carry over the added notes. The notes are not part of the file specification, so they are discarded if the file is resaved or overwritten.
If a file with notes is made ReadOnly, it does protect the file from casual overwriting. The notes cannot typically be seen unless this application is used or a binary content editor is used.
Having FileNotz open does not affect the execution of a file. Depending on file type, FileNotz may not be able to update a file in use. Using Filenotz is outlined in the included readme file.
