Coming full circle, NVIDIA has marketed the RTX 3060 as a direct replacement for those gamers with aging graphics cards. Not only is it marketed to be 2x the performance of a GTX 1060, but it goes head-to-head with NVIDIA RTX 2070 / RTX 2060 Super cards from the previous Turing generation. After running a large set of benchmarks, I can safely say NVIDIA is spot on this time. In many ways, it is better than expected due to improved ray-tracing and DLSS support using NVIDIA's current generation of RTX and Tensor cores, a technology that is absent in all GTX SKUs.
