Memory manufacturer Elpida today announced that it has shipped samples of the industrys first 2GB DDR2 registered memory modules. Elpida tells that these new DDR2 modules have a transfer rate of 4.3GB/s. This memory module contains thirty-six 512 Megabit DDR2 FBGA packed devices that run up to 533MHz. The modules also support 1.8V operation, according to Elpida this means a 50% power reduction over DDR400 memory.
