If DiskCheck encounters undetected devices, it can also output a diagnosis that can further improve the driver architecture. DiskCheck comes equipped with IDE and SCSI drivers. The SCSI drivers are available only in the premium product range; you can still test their correct functionality. DiskCheck also includes improved IDE drivers that offer Ultra-DMA access for IDE devices. IDE speed can be measured with DMA access turned on or off. This will also allow you to measure the PIO speed of newer hard disks.
You will undoubtedly notice that DiskCheck's interface is a little dated, but that doesn't take away from its usefulness for hard disk read speed evaluation. It may not be the most advanced tool available, but it gives you a free option to obtain storage device details straightforwardly.
