DiskBench tests your hard drive speed in a real-life situation, not in a benchmarking environment.

All DiskBench does is copy a file from A to B, then times the time it took, and deletes the file from B again. It uses the current filesystem to save the file. If it is fragmented, the performance will be degraded, as it is in real life.

DiskBench will allow you to figure out how fast your computer can copy a file from A to B without using a stopwatch.
