This app will keep you up to date on all the latest news from your favorite sites and displays them as an overlayed ribbon ticker allowing you to keep working without having to navigate to another desktop app. For testing, we loaded it with nothing but MajorGeeks, as we are a little partial. Having it scrolling across the screen wasn't overwhelming at all, as it is small and discreet. You can change up a few attributes allowing for a more personalized experience like ticker color, opacity, location, etc. One advantageous option is to set it to have news updated within a selectable time be in a different color. Hence, it stands out, as shown in the last screenshot with Advanced SystemCare displayed in red.
Desktop Ticker can also be synchronized with the Windows Common Feed List, allowing the list of subscribed RSS feeds to be shared with other applications such as Internet Explorer, Windows Live Mail, and Outlook.
Desktop Ticker is fully compatible with RSS feeds provided by news sites, including BBC News and CNN, as well as other sites like Facebook, Flickr, and Gmail. If you are looking for a new RSS reader with enough goodies that make it stand out from the others, then Desktop Ticker is worth trying. It also comes as a portable app allowing you to enjoy your favorite feeds (hint - MajorGeeks) while away from your main machine.
Here are the MajorGeeks RSS Feeds to get you started.
