Thumbnails are the small pictures you see when you open up file explorer to navigate through your windows folders.

Thumbnails make it far faster to identify the actual file you are looking at instead of just by the file name itself. If you are in File Explorer, choosing "View" allows you to select the size of the thumbnails. Windows then keeps a cache of these files, by size, in the folder %LocalAppData%\Microsoft\Windows\Explorer\ (see screenshots).

Sometimes the cache of these thumbnails can become very large or corrupted, slowing down load times, not displaying correctly, or even causing response issues with File Explorer.

In this case, you can download the Delete Thumbnail Cache batch file and quickly delete the Windows thumbnail cache with a single click.

The downloads a batch file contained in a zip. Just unzip the file wherever you like. Then double-click the file. The program will stop File Explorer, delete the cache files, and restart File Explore. This should fix your problem with our even needing to reboot.
