It's been nearly four years since the release of Corsair's Vengeance K70 and Vengeance K95. Corsair was the first big manufacturer to use the floating key design with these keyboards. With this design the aluminum base plate is also used as a top panel, which means that part of the switches is laid bare and the keycaps seem to float above the keyboard. It turned out to be a hit, because not only were the aforementioned keyboards very popular, but other manufacturers also followed in Corsair's footsteps. The K-series was later expanded with RGB models and now the newest flagship from Corsair has reached our test lab; the K95 Platinum.

The difference between the Vengeance K70 and the Vengeance K95 was that that latter keyboard also featured 18 separate macro keys to the left of the normal keys. Corsair has opted for different approach on the K95 Platinum. Separate macro keys are back again, however in this case there are only six of them. This makes the keyboard more compact than the Vengeance K95, however it remains a huge device nonetheless.

Corsair positions the K95 Platinum in the top segment of mechanical keyboards. There are few keyboards available on the market that are more expensive than this model .The variant that we tested for this review is the model with Cherry MX Speed switches, however a version with Cherry MX Brown switches is also available.
