Connection Alert is a freeware utility for monitoring a target network connection (VPN) and the ability to run custom tasks or launch executables.

Connection Alert is intended for monitoring your VPN connection status to minimize exposure if your VPN connection is disconnected or interpreted. But it can be used for general event logging and monitoring.

You can use Connection Alert to monitor a network-adapter status and network-adapter IPv4/IPv6 Regex. It can be configured to monitor application start/exit, network-adapter connect/disconnect, and application service start/stop. It will also save status logs. You can additionally kill specified tasks from within Connection Alert, and it can also sound an alarm for user-defined events.

If you want to keep your network as safe as possible, adding another tool, such as Connection Alert, will provide you with another viable option.
