Chocolate Doom aims to accurately reproduce the original DOS version of Doom, Heretic, Hexen, and Strife in a form that can be run on modern computers.
We spent some time playing all of them, and they run fantastic in Windows with mouse support with all the graphics and sounds you love. You need to have the game installed, or better yet, just copy the iWAD file into the folder of the game your playing. Your default.cfg should work as well. Better still, most total conversions also work.
Chocolate Doom’s aims are:
To always be 100% Free and Open Source software.
Portability to as many different operating systems as possible.
Accurate reproduction of the original DOS versions of the games, including bugs.
Compatibility with the DOS demo, configuration and savegame files.
To provide an accurate retro “feel” (display and input should behave the same).
Because of their small size (about 2MB each), we've included all four games in one ZIP file.
