You begin by choosing single-player or multiplayer and then one of four rookie league tracks, and you can progress through other leagues and challenges. We counted 55 tracks you can work up to. Each track has a set skill level and keeps track of your best times.

The AI is challenging and the tracks start out simple but learning each track can be helpful. The physics of the buggies are pretty good, at least from someone who's never raced a buggy before. The best way to describe the handling is arcade-like with a touch of realism with the physics. That's what most casual gamers look for in a racing game. There's no car damage, but the realism mostly comes into play in how you slide your buggy.

The buggies slide, and you can bump the AI opponents. Learning to slide over jumps where there's a turn is critical early on.

The graphics are simplistic, like a lot of indie games. The cars remind me of soapbox derby cars, and the game itself will remind you of a poor mans Trackmania Nations or Trackmania Forever.

Overall, we enjoyed playing Buggy League. While there's a lot that could be polished, it stands out as an excellent indie game.
