DriverHeaven has posted an exlusive interview with ATi's VP of software. [Zardon] The nVidia Geforce FX is almost here. We have all heard that ATi is not going to give up the performance crown without a fight. Does this include "Performance Oriented Driver Sets"?

[Ben] We do not design and implement drivers merely to negate or overshadow competitive product releases. We are committed to continually improving our drivers (in terms of both performance and stability), regardless of where the competition is. If we were planning a software release just to coincide with the competition?s product availability date, this software release would have been delayed quite a few times by now. This would not have been in the best interest of our customers.

[Zardon] What can we expect from catalyst in the near future?

[Ben] You can expect to see more of the main foundations of CATALYST: Performance boosts, increased stability and more features. Although I can?t disclose specific features that are coming I want to say that through the CATALYST CREW program we have direct feedback from our users and understand what features they are looking for.
