An intelligent interface provides easy access to BBEdit's best-of-class features. These features include (but aren't limited to): grep pattern matching; search and replace across multiple files; project definition tools; function navigation and syntax coloring for numerous source code languages; code folding; FTP and SFTP open and save; Git and Subversion integration; AppleScript; macOS Unix scripting support; text and code completion, and of course, a complete set of robust HTML markup tools.

The new BBEdit comes with many new features and improvements that aim to enhance the user's productivity and efficiency while working on projects and text documents. Among these updates are the ChatGPT worksheets, which allow interaction with OpenAI's ChatGPT through BBEdit, provided the user has an account and API key. Another new feature is the Minimap palette, which provides an overview of the active text document's structure and facilitates navigation within more significant documents.

The Git menu now has new commands that enable pushing and pulling the current branch to/from its remote and discarding changes from the contextual menu. BBEdit's Text Factory feature has undergone interface improvements, making it easier to set up multi-step text transformation processes.

BBEdit's Project feature has a more approachable and significantly redesigned interface that allows users to group and edit related files regardless of their location on disk. Also, a new top-level project item has been introduced for workspace settings, website settings, and project settings, which helps project functions work better and makes completions more accurate.

The update includes expandable "Cheat Sheets," customizable reference documents for text pieces and their descriptions, with built-in examples for Markdown and Clippings placeholders. Finally, the Text Merge feature provides a powerful transformation capability similar to the idea of mail merge.
