Reliable industry sources relatively close to ATI, told french website Clubic.com, ATI is going to have a sixteen pixel pipelines part starting this spring. Being part of the R420 familly this part is supposed to be a R420 and will likely be available in AGP 8x & PCI-Express 16x flavors. This news comes as a big surprise since the upcoming so called X800 was supposed to be a 12 pixel pipelines only VPU which would have fallen short in terms of performance when compared to NVIDIA?s brand new NV40.
