While reviewing the Intel Core i7 5960X processor, the new X99 platform left a good impression and I was eager to dedicate an article to the ASUS X99-Deluxe motherboard that was at the heart of the test system. Today, I will be firing up the new X99 based test system again; with the ASUS X99-Deluxe motherboard being the star of the show.

Even though the element of surprise was a bit spoiled by the results seen in the Intel Core i7 5960X processor review, I can't help but continue being impressed with the X99-Deluxe. Over the years, I had the chance to work with quite a few ASUS motherboards and I personally own three boards from the manufacturer including a Crosshair IV Formula ROG that still feels as if I just took it out of the box (which I still have too!). Looking at the X99-Deluxe, I can see the brand maturity resulting from a lineage of great designs. With a splendid color scheme and a rich feature list, the ASUS X99-Deluxe seems intent to set a new standard in the motherboard world.
