Game2xs.com GameSpotter has posted his interview with Massive Development's Technical Director Ingo Frick.
Game2XS: Is the technology used in AquaMark 3 incorporated into any of JoWood's game titles or is it exclusive to the benchmarking software? Ingo Frick: No. The main goal of AquaMark 3 was to use technology which is NOT exclusively designed for benchmarking software. The krassTM-engine, which builds the foundation of the benchmark, is a well known German game development engine, which has already been used in other titles. Is important to see that these titles range from shooter like genres like AquaNox or AquaNox2:Revelation to the RTS game genre like SpellForce. This ensures a non title or non genre biased game engine, which is very important to be as representative as possible. Up to now the krass-engine has mainly been used for JoWooD's internal titles. An early version of the engine has already been used in a game called Archimedean Dynasty about 7 years ago.
