AMD's best kept Secret

Published by

I just thought I would give you the heads up on the latest developments in the so called "obsolete" Athlon XP line of CPU's... The Mobile Athlon XP-M 2500+ seems to be AMD's latest overclocking king, news is strarting to spread through the various enthusiast forums now, and the resulst are amazing! Some people are getting 2.7GHz and MORE! One major feature of the XP-M, is it's power management. Now this is useless for 99.9% of desktop systems, however is has one MASSIVE impact on the enthusiast market... It's UNLOCKED!!! and what also is a bonus for the enthusiasts, is that this core is identical in speed and fuction to the desktop 2500+ Barton XP.

Another feature of the XP-M series is that it runs with a much lower CPU core voltage of 1.45v instead of the 1.65v used in the desktop varient.

This is because AMD choose the cream of the crop for the mobile market, which is driven by power saving, and heat output. Which boils down to some pretty amazing overclocks due to the fact that at 1.65v, your already volt boosting the core, whilst at the same time overclocking like mad!

Newegg.com have them for you Americans, and CPUCity.co.uk in the UK has that base covered. These chips are quite cheap at the moment, and could well be the next 1700+ DLTA Athlon!

Have a look at the forums at ( AMDMB ) and HardOCP, and get these CPU's while there "hot", so to speak!
