A Trio of Widescreen Monitors

Published by

The 20-inch widescreen PC display is rapidly becoming the mainstream size for the increasingly popular 16:10 aspect ratios. We look at three of the latest models, including the shiny new Dell 2007WFP. Dell isn't new to the world of 20-inch widescreen displays. Their earlier 2005FPW has been shipping for over a year. The new Dell seems to offer few additional features relative to the 2005FPW, but the 2007WFP offers HDCP over DVI, which makes it ready for Windows Vista HD-DVD and other set-top box connections. Subjectively, the 2007WFP also seems to have more uniform backlighting; several of the early 2005FPW's we've seen have noticeable hotspots in their backlighting, and black levels were relatively poor.
